Gold and Silver Rally After Historic Drop Signals Market Shift
Gold and silver prices jumped after a record drop. The prices turned up hard. Investors and experts watch this change. The selloff came when the Fed picked Kevin Warsh as head. His name caused a strong dollar. That strong dollar pushed metal prices down.
The drop hit silver with extra force. Silver had its worst day since 1980. The drop recalled past events. In 1980, the Hunt brothers tried to buy all the silver. New rules stopped them. This moment showed metal prices can change fast.
Some traders see strong support in the metals. They watch the 50-day price average. Gold once reached about $4,400 per ounce. Then gold rose to near $4,800. Silver found a level close to $75 per ounce. Big buyers stepped in when prices reached these levels.
Ed Ponsi of Barchetta Capital Management said support lines can start price moves. He noted that many investors missed the earlier rise in metals. The rise may help set a new price floor. This floor may help metals stand against new falls.
The Fed still shapes the market. Warsh initially caused fear with his strict views. His later milder views helped calm the market. Some investors, like Ray Dalio and Stanley Druckenmiller, link Warsh to future rate cuts in 2026. Lower rates could weaken the dollar. A weak dollar makes gold more attractive to buyers, including central banks that want less U.S. debt.
Big banks think that gold can rise further. UBS now sees gold near $6,200 per ounce by mid-2026. This forecast is a big jump from gold’s current level near $4,865. Goldman Sachs now gives gold an "overweight" label. They expect gold to near $5,400 per ounce in 12 months.
Silver has also changed mood. Experts who thought silver would drop now see some strength. They think silver may start to win ground.
The market now changes as metals join shifts in economic views, Fed steps, and short-term moves. Investors view gold and silver as key signs of market mood. Their price moves help shape ideas for how to mix old assets with new trading ideas.
